CNET.com recently reviewed the full frame Nikon D800 camera and it seems to be quite the body to have, it is similar in feature set to the Canon 5D Mark III but priced significantly cheaper. While I’m not the typical Canon/Nikon fanboy (I own Olympus, Nikon and Canon SLRs). I do prefer Nikon’s digital range of camera, I see an upgrade in the storage mediums of photographers who own this camera because the size of a RAW/NEF file is generally between 40-70MB.
DX Lense Users Rejoice
Initially I thought this camera was off-limits for me because I own a few DX lenses in my mix. I was pleasantly surprised however to find that in addition to its full frame resolution of 36.3MP the D800 can also shoot in a DX mode and capture images of 15.3MP when you are using DX lenses. Prayer does in fact work, I’m ecstatic with this discovery.
If you want to see a D800s RAW/NEF file up close and personal feel free to download a 45MB sample file here.
Share your thought with me on this new Nikon in the comments below, are you going to get one or will you get the Canon 5D Mark III?
