Korea’s LG Electronics has announced the first details on its Optimus G smartphone, though only in Korean, so far.
Thankfully, Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has put a few of the features into English, confirming the quad-core Qualcomm chip, 4.7-inch screen, 13-megapixel camera and other details. It says it expects an October or November launch in Japan.
Putting the Korean press release through Google Translate indicates that the device should hit Korea in September, with a global rollout thereafter.
LG also notes that the device is the result of the collaboration among various units of the company, leading to a high-resolution screen with a cover glass with built-in touch panel and a high-capacity battery.
Whether all this internal comradery has produced a phone that can help LG regain lost ground remains to be seen.
